Scholarships

The focus of the Trust is funding scholarships to help students from Shimshal with financial need and promising ability participate in teacher training, vocational education or attend high school or university.  Although the Trust funds scholarships for male applicants we consistently provide more scholarships for female applicants.  This is consistent with research that shows that providing quality and universal education to girls and young women promotes progress for society as a whole (click here for an example).

The awarding of scholarships by the Trust is an annual process that has been designed to fit with the Pakistani academic year that starts in September.

Anyone from Shimshal is entitled to apply for a scholarship.

Preference is given to applicants who are recommended by the Shimshal Council Education Committee. The Education Committee recommends applicants who suffer financial hardship and who have given, or are likely to give, service to the community of Shimshal.

When deciding on scholarships, the Trust gives preference to applicants who:

  • Can demonstrate good grades (not lower than a C average)
